Synthetic traffic should mirror payload shapes, not ping packets. We co-design probes with firmware so TLS and payload sizes match reality. Placement follows support tickets: if customers complain in a region, probes land there first—not in the lab subnet. We document false positives openly. Some jitter is weather, not architecture; the runbook says how to tell the difference.
